Key ideas of my thesis

Social media should not be separated to a virtual ‘other’ world parallel to our ‘real’ world.

All the world´s users and the shared online content can be narrowed down to cultural reproduction.

Mainstream social media do not sell communication services, they sell online advertising to marketers.

Biologically Humans are feeling rewarded for social acceptance and therefore ‘online-likes’ are addictive and harmful.

Researchers can only point out correlations between mental illness and social media, but not claim evidence with certainty.

Reason behind my journey

I wanted to SHOW that we do not need modern tools such as internet

I needed to PROVE that a graphic designer can work purely analog

I was curious to TRY if camera is not necessary for documentation

I felt an urge to SEEK if such a journey could teach and help me

I had to MAKE a strong statement with my work

Please open the pdf-document bellow and get familiar with the entire process of the work. There are plenty of pictures and stories you do not want to miss.

Connection between my projects

My Conclusion of the thesis claims that Social media is neither + or –

BUT

Social media still have clear harmful aspects.

SO

I tested what influence digital activity and online apps had on my own life.

AND

did this in the most interesting and extreme way I possible could

Both bachelor works are

QUESTIONING society

DISPUTING standards

ACCUSING norms

DISAPPROVING trends

but most importantly

INSPIRE

and

INFLIENCE

The approaches are very different: one is rational and the other smack in the face.
