Sweet Side
Berlin 2016
Task
I wanted to learn more how to work with photographs, especially portraits and personal stories. I signed up for a class in editorial photography by Michael Danner. One of the assigments was to combine picture with statements. Sequence of three testamonials was preferred.
Challenge
I instantly wanted to make a modern twist on an old proverb. But what would not be too corny or had been captured already?
Solution
I ended up giving the saying “don’t judge a book by it’s cover” a new and darker appearance. The classmates thought it was too much, but I really like this work and obviously that is why it’s here in the portfolio. The contrast between lovely small quotes by somewhat alternative characters works great.
